    Top 50 Environmental Enterprises in China! BEWG actively participates in peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality 2021-07-09

    During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China’s ecological civilization construction has entered a critical period in which carbon reduction is the key strategic direction, pollution and carbon reduction synergies are promoted, the overall green transformation of economic and social development is strengthened, and the quality of the ecological environment is improved from quantitative to qualitative features. Peaking CO2 emissions and reaching carbon neutrality will require extensive and profound systematic changes both economically and socially. This goal has been incorporated into the overall layout of China's ecological civilization construction.

    In this context, on July 8, the "China Ecological Environment Industry Summit Forum 2021” organized by China Environment Chamber of Commerce of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Themed on "Link and Reset: New Industry Forces Under Vision of Carbon Neutrality", new trends in the development of China's environmental industry was discussed on the forum. The forum attracted more than 1,000 guests from national ministries and commissions, Sichuan Province, Chengdu, the German Consulate in Chengdu, scientific research institutions, environmental companies, and financial institutions.

    China Environment Chamber of Commerce released the list of "Top 50 Environmental Enterprises in China 2021" and awarded the listed enterprises. BEWG was among the best with its excellent performance. Liu Weiyan, vice president of BEWG, took the stage to accept the award on behalf of the group.

    In the first summit dialogue of the forum, "How the environmental industry contributes to carbon neutrality", Liu Weiyan participated in an in-depth discussion as a guest and discussed the theme of carbon neutrality. She mentioned that water service companies should focus on the R&D and application of new low-carbon technologies, energy saving and consumption reduction during operation, new energy development, carbon sinks, etc. to help achieve the goal of “peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality”, and introduced the active exploration and efforts made by BEWG as a leading enterprise in carbon neutrality.

    Liu Weiyan said that in terms of new technology R&D, BEWG has developed new technologies such as AOA and aerobic granular sludge, which have made breakthroughs and have been applied in Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang and other places on a large scale. In terms of energy saving and consumption reduction in operation, it has achieved remarkable effect of energy saving and consumption reduction by means of whole-process fine control and intelligent water affairs. BEWG has built a water plant information data center based on big data, a water plant production and operation system, an intensive management and control system, an analysis and decision support system, a mobile Internet APP application system based on business processes and an intelligent water system based on cloud computing. In 2020, the group's raw material cost per ton of water decreased by 25.8%, and the reduction of carbon sources, phosphorus removal agents, flocculants and other raw materials and electricity consumption was realized. The annual carbon dioxide emission reduction was about 150,000 tons and the remaining sludge emission reduction was about 180,000 tons (80% moisture content).

    In terms of new energy development, BEWG has promoted photovoltaic and water source heat pump (WSHP) technologies, which have begun to take shape. Currently, more than 50 water plants of the group have adopted photovoltaic power generation with a total installed capacity of more than 32MW. In terms of the application of WSHP technology, taking the western sewage treatment plant in Qinhuangdao Seaport Area as an example, the plant has a sewage treatment capacity of 120,000 tons per day and uses reclaimed water as a heat source of WSHP to provide heating and refrigeration guarantee for office buildings and production and living areas in the plant. In the field of carbon sinks, BEWG is also trying to reuse of recycled water, resource recovery, and sludge utilization, etc.

    Finally, Liu Weiyan emphasized that carbon neutrality is a new direction, new subject, and new force in the industry, and there are many directions that need to be explored and practiced by the entire industry. BEWG is willing to work with environmental companies to contribute to pollution control, carbon reduction and coordinated development.

    In the critical period and window period of peaking CO2 emissions, BEWG will actively implement the new development concept, coordinate the promotion of the group's "dual platform" strategy, ecological strategy, innovation strategy and digital strategy, and firmly seize opportunities and plan a target path for peak carbon emissions and neutrality from the perspective of the group's sustainable development, continue to strengthen technological innovation, improve quality and efficiency, and strive to reach peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
