Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association was Established 2020-01-14

Nowadays, smart cities have been elevated to the level of national economic and technological strategy. Water management is an important part of city management, and smart water also develops quickly as more emphasis is exerted on quality and efficiency improvement with respect to sewage treatment. 

On January 13, the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association led by China Urban Water Association and BEWG was formally established in Beijing. With the calling of smart water, the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association will give full play to its advantages, integrate and build a smart water resource think tank, and build a smart water exchange platform among key water operation companies, scientific research institutes, design institutes, and smart water related technology companies to promote the construction of the framework of the smart water affairs standard system, and make every effort to promote intelligent transformation and upgrading of water affairs.

More than 150 members and representatives from domestic water supply and drainage enterprises, design units, scientific research institutions, technology companies, etc. attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association and Beijing Enterprises Water Group (China) Investment Limited, and was co-organized by Shanghai Panda Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. and Beijing Jianyun Technology Co., Ltd.

As one of the leaders of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water, Li Li, CEO of BEWG, delivered a speech. He pointed out that there is a surge of smart water on “both sides”, which provides a huge space of imagination. It is believed that the Specialized Committee for Smart Water will facilitate the development of smart water in the industry and become a new engine for the development of smart cities in vertical fields under the leadership of the China Urban Water Association and the joint efforts of all member units.

Director Zhang Linwei, chairman of the China Urban Water Association, said in his speech that smart water is a tool to promote the upgrading of traditional industries and is of great significance to the development of the water industry. Zhang Linwei also put forward three expectations to the specialized committee, hoping that the specialized committee can clarify the concept and connotation of smart water, determine the ways and methods to realize smart water, and establish smart water-related standards to work together to promote industry development, and support national urbanization and socio-economic development. 

Gao Wei, deputy secretary-general of the China Urban Water Association, announced that the resolution to establish the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association was reviewed and approved by the third session of the second council of the China Urban Water Association. The list of chief chairman units and chief chairman of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association was announced, and the awarding, certificate-giving, and medal-giving ceremonies of the director units and director members were held.
 
At the meeting, Dr. Wei Youshuang, deputy dean of the Digital Research Institute of BEWG, reported on the preparatory work of the Building Water Supply and Drainage Branch of the China Urban Water Association. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Liu Weiyan, chief chairman of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association and director of BEWG, and at the meeting, the candidates for deputy chairman and secretary-general recommended by the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association were approved by voting, the candidates for standing committee members of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association were also approved by voting, and the certificate-awarding ceremony for vice chairman, secretary general, standing committee members, and committee members were held. 

Afterwards, chief chairman Dr. Liu Weiyan presided over the first working meeting of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water of the China Urban Water Association. Dr. Liu Weiyan interpreted the smart water 2035 plan, and Lin Feng, director of the Shenzhen Water Information Center, analyzed the smart water project cases, and representatives present at the meeting offered suggestions on the smart water 2035 plan and the development of the Specialized Committee for Smart Water.

The Central Economic Working Conference in 2019 required that “we must fight a battle against pollution, adhere to the same direction and undiminished efforts, and highlight precision pollution control, scientific pollution control, and pollution control in accordance with the law” , and it must be supported by high technology and advanced technology. As the main force in the field of environmental protection, BEWG will accelerate the construction of smart water services by taking technological innovation as the driving force, build an excellent operating brand, and join hands with industry leaders to develop smart water operations and promote high-quality, sustainable development of the water industry by relying on the Specialized Committee for Smart Water.
